Our mission

Supporting local and global causes

Global causes

Whilst supporting initiatives in and around Stoke-on-Trent remains close to our hearts, our scope to make a difference goes much wider.

This is why we support charities at home, and projects across the world.

Having built a thriving and successful business that, 25 years on, remains headquartered in Stoke-on-Trent, it is my desire to support causes that make the City a great place to live – and to provide funding further afield, whether that is locally, nationally, or internationally to support people in realising their potential.

The Denise Coates Foundation was borne out of, and is committed to, giving back to the communities that mean so much to our family.

Where there is need, and we can help, then that is what the Foundation will do.

Endowment status

The Denise Coates Foundation was established as an expendable endowment fund with the return on investments distributed in support of charitable activities that align with the Foundation's objectives.

The endowment status of the foundation should allow the continued operation of the Denise Coates Foundation for the future on a self-funding basis and without dependence on further financial donations from any other source.

The Trustees review the reserves policy on an annual basis to mitigate current and future risks and to enable the foundation to achieve its objectives.

The Denise Coates Foundation is a company limited by guarantee. It is a registered charity and governed by the provisions of its Memorandum and Articles of Association dated 24 August 2012 as amended by special resolution on 30 November 2012 and 4 February 2016.

The foundation does not fund Community Interest Companies, sports clubs, or associations without charitable status.
